The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award gives young people aged 14-24 the chance to develop skills for life and work, fulfil their potential, and have a brighter future.
We are an Approved Activity Provider (AAP) for the Expedition Section of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. We organise and run Bronze, Silver and Gold Expeditions and are experienced at delivering the training, practice and assessed expeditions required for you to fulfil this section of the award.
Our expeditions are on foot but please let us know if you are interested in an alternative mode of travel and we will see if we can accommodate you.
In the Autumn of 2016 the Exploration Society delivered outstanding Bronze trekking training and assessed expeditions for the Stephen Perse Foundation, Cambridge. From the training day in September, followed by the practice trekking weekend, through to the final assessed Bronze DofE trek in the Bury-St-Edmunds area, we enjoyed excellent training. Importantly, it was also great fun for the students.
The training day was paced at just the right level, whetted student’s appetites and imparted all the essential information and skills they needed for the treks. During the expedition days, the group leaders were terrific, briefing, encouraging and cajoling students in just the right way. Not only was the whole team well prepared and constantly on the ball, they were also able to make the whole exercise thoroughly enjoyable, infecting the students with their enthusiasm and sense of humour. Overall, I felt that the Exploration staff members consistently created just the right spirit amongst the students, ensuring that there was an appropriate level of seriousness when it came to safety matters and aspects of assessment, but at other times generating lots of laughs and a really positive atmosphere.
Great training, delivered by top class staff!
